Hello! My name is Georgia D’Arcy and I am the director of D’Arcy Stage School which I started back in 2013. I love every minute of watching our special school go from strength to strength and helping many young performers to believe in themselves and reach their full potential!
I love to nuture all students wether they love to come as a hobby and gain so much from the confidence and friendships our school provides or students who have the drive/ passion to go in to performing arts as a profession, I love to support all and bring the best out of everybody! I write all my own shows from scratch based on well known musicals so following the story but in a way that showcases our talented students even more and we perform three times annually in theatres in Kent and also in the WEST END. We also have a performance troupe which performs an extra two times. I have found a real love for choreographing and love staging and directing our shows/ performances. I think it is so important to have the chance to perform lots to really ignite the passion and excitement for young performers, also to gain important stage experience.
I work really hard each and every class as do our students. We have fun but we work hard on the finer details! I am incredibly proud to say that students I have trained have landed the following: JUNIOR ASSOCIATES AT THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL; MID ASSOCIATE AT THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL; SENIOR ASSOCIATE AT THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL; ASSOCIATE AT CENTRAL BALLET SCHOOL; ASSOCIATE AT TRING PERFORMING ARTS; SCHOLARSHIP TO ELMHURST BALLET SCHOOL; SCHOLARSHIPS [2] TO TRING PERFORMING ARTS; SCHOLARSHIPS [2] TO CLIQUE COLLEGE; SCHOLARSHIP TO WILKES ACADEMY; SCHOLARSHIP TO D&B PERFORMING ARTS and SCHOLARSHIP TO SYLVIA YOUNG THEATRE SCHOOL! I have also trained two ballerinas who have won 1st place girl at the prestigious ISTD BALLET AWARDS - 1st in UK for their grades [Grade 1 and Grade 6] out of hundreds!
I started dancing when I was just three years old in a dance school in Tonbridge I then moved to a Russian Ballet School in Southborough and trained with the very talented teacher Tamara Mouybayed. I stayed dancing with Tamara which I loved but I also wanted to train more and in a different syllabus to try a new style of Ballet and so I joined Lisa Maybank School of Dance and trained in RAD. I am very thankful to both these ladies who helped me realise my love of dance and to train to such a high standard with them from a young age. Lisa and I came up with the concept of Elite Ballet Project a local associates which gives the opportunity for talented dancers to train with leading industry professionals, I am very proud to have many students accepted as Elite associates. As a young ballerina I auditioned for English Youth Ballet company twice with the lovely Julianne and Miss Lewis and both times I was awarded a Scholarship to be in the company both times! I am so grateful to now be good friends with them and to see my students train with them in workshops at our school and in their special EYB shows is lovely! I was awarded the prestigious Royal Ballet summer school Scholarship to train with them for a week in the summer. I also performed with the wonderful London Childrens Ballet as a young ballerina and The National Youth Ballet. On top of my love for ballet I realised I loved to sing and act! I joined the Tunbridge Wells Italia Conti and loved this new avenue of performing and singing and dancing in shows! I loved playing Cosette in Les Mis… still my favourite musical. I attended Tunbridge Wells Grammar School aged 11-13 years old and at age 13 years old I auditioned for Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts in Barbican in London and I was awarded a Scholarship to join the school! Aged 14-16 years I trained at the school studying ISTD and taking ISTD exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern [gaining DISTINCTIONS in all exams] on top of performing in their incredible shows and being in a hub of talent daily! I then auditioned for five top dance colleges gaining a place in all five! I had attended a Laine summer school before my auditions and fell in love and so I attended Laine Theatre Arts in Surrey aged 16-18 years old. Incredible talent surrounding me every day and top teachers! I graduated with an ISTD teaching qualification and a National Diploma in Performing Arts. Whilst at Laines I took both ISTD and RAD exams in Modern, Tap and Ballet up to Advanced 1 level therefore completing all the grade work and vocational exams receiving an ‘A’ grade or a Distinction in all my exams. I also trained in LAMDA and took my acting and singing exams whilst at the college on top of performing in their annual shows.
During my time as a dancer I have performed at Sadlers Wells, Shaftesbury Avenue Theatre, The Peacock Theatre, The 02, The Palladium, in the West End in various shows and also many theatres up and down the UK including The Hazlitt theatre, Wimbledon Theatre and The Shaw Theatre performing in pantomimes as a singer/dancer, in variety dance shows and as a backing dancer for concerts. I danced professionally on cruise ships as a singer/dancer and travelled around the world performing and I have appeared in films/adverts/tv as an extra and in three music videos as a dancer for Pixie Lott and Conor Maynard and performed professionally for Pineapple dancewear fashion shows.
I always knew I wanted to teach and fulfil my dream of not only loving performing myself but to share my passion and inspire others. I get such a big thrill from teaching and finding ways to help a student learn and grow and I also adore choreographing/ casting/ costuming shows and seeing them come together and the students shine! I have found that running DSS is my real calling in life and I am so grateful to have found my even bigger passion which is to teach! I also am so proud to see my students gain such wonderful exam results and to see the standard in all our performers continuing to improve! DSS has 100% pass rate in exams and students grow so much from them! I have recently gained a degree in teaching ISTD Ballet passing with Distinction to go on top of my previous qualification andI am also qualified in Progressive Ballet Technique a new body conditioning programme that has swept the world. I take regular training courses to stay updated with the syllabus and latest training techniques. I am always growing and learning making sure I give the best quality of teaching and care to our students and teachers.
I absolutely love what and I do and love all of my students. At DSS you become part on big all singing and dancing family. Each child is nurtured by all our staff to be the best that they can be, to believe in themselves, have fun and shine! Georgia D’Arcy Xx
